Jason Sparrow's Obsidian KX-10, a cut resistant glove, has revolutionized the safety industry with its unique design and advanced technology. This award-winning design offers an unprecedented combination of flexibility, dexterity, and protection, setting a new standard in safety gloves.

Most cut resistant gloves on the market are heavy and stiff due to their thick liners and steel fiber reinforcements. Sparrow's design inspiration came from the desire to create a lightweight glove that still offered high levels of protection. The Obsidian KX-10 achieves this through the use of an 18g steel-free technology engineered liner and an advanced hybrid coating. This allows workers to handle small sharp components in wet, dry, and even oily conditions while remaining comfortable and secure.

The Obsidian KX-10 is unique in its design and functionality. It is a close-fitting, lightweight glove with a seamless Cut Level 5 precision handling glove with a hybrid Polyurethane / Nitrile fusion palm dipped coating. This provides phenomenal grip while protecting from cuts and slashes. The glove also features a reinforced Nitrile patch to the thumb crotch for extra strength and longevity.

The Obsidian KX-10 was realized through the use of specially engineered glass fibers that are stronger and more stable than alternative mineral and steel fibers. These fibers, combined with a unique formulation of technical high-performance fibers, are wrapped and knitted in the fabrication of the glove. This results in a light yet high mechanical strength glove with superior cut resistance characteristics, protection, and durability without the stiffness and/or skin irritation associated with steel and mineral fibers.

The glove was designed with a unique formulation of Nitrile and Water Based Polyurethane fusion, creating an extremely flexible yet durable coating enabling precision handling in wet, dry, and even oily conditions. The Obsidian gloves perform better as it is the thinnest gauge level 5 cut resistant glove available. Combined with its hybrid coating, it offers secure handling of small objects in both wet and dry conditions.

The project was originally started in 2015 in Shanghai and was initially shown as a concept idea at A+A safety show in Dusseldorf October 2015. Due to tremendous interest, the glove finally went into production late 2016. The design was showcased on a global basis in 2016 at leading safety exhibitions to show industrial safety distributors, experts, and end-user customers the potential. Combined with in-house production feedback from existing global clients, the Obsidian KX-10 has proven to be a game-changer in the safety industry.
